Over 350 members of the
maritime community celebrating the
outstanding contributions made over the last
year for safe, efficient and environmentally
friendly shipping. Guest of Honour Jim
Fitzpatrick MP, Parliamentary Under
Secretary of State, Department for
Transport, presented the Seatrade “Safety at
Sea” 2009 award to SSI for their Triple5
lifeboat release mechanism.
Survival Systems
International’s Triple5 hook mechanism was
awarded the Seatrade “Safety at Sea” 2009
Award for its innovative design contributing
to the safety of the seaman. The Triple5
hook is designed to be retrofitted into
existing lifeboats to replace a lifeboat’s
existing unstable hooks and for new
manufacture lifeboats.
Survival Systems International “Triple5”
hook mechanism provides:
1. An inherently
stable hook using a load-over centre
design.
2. A design that uses the weight of the
boat to hold the hook closed and not to
open the hook.
3. A design based on SSI’s current hook
that has a 25-year accident free
history.
4. Off-load safety with on-load
functionality.
